Adelaide to Alice Springs

Exceptionly I write this report in English because I have promised it to the travel group: On Monday I got up at 6 o clock to start the 6-day safari from Adelaide to Alice Springs.

We have seen kangaroos...

and other dangerous animals...

then we arrived at an old village where all inhabitants were emigrated due to the poor standard substance of the village,…or perhaps there were other reasons?

Because of the excellent ranger education (thanks, Ralphi-boy!), I tried to explore the real reason of the vacated village,… and really I found the solution in one cave next to the village… The spaceship on the left side, the wheel in the middle and spear on the right side broke the big secret!

Once upon a time there arrived a big space ship with dreadful aliens on board!

The aboriginal inhabitants tried to fly with a car, but they had no chance against the bloodthirstily aliens! They lost the grimly fight in spite of poison spears and they were assimilated to the aliens. Now a few of them live in large Cities, have not really a purpose in life, and have lost their original living space!

After this cheerless awareness we arrived at a large snow field!? But the outside temperature was hotter than 40 degrees!?

After accurate check with my sandals which have more than 13 years experience of life (Klemens,I bought these, when we were in Africa-1994 or so) I explained the travel group, that this is no snow like on Austrian mountains! – No, this was a large salt sea in the middle of the dessert!

Here I made a high jump competition against Shelly from Israel, which clearly was won by Austria!

And here a picture in the dessert during the sun set. In the evening we played ‘Yazzi’ (in german ‘Kniffel’)- and the luck of the Austrian was unbreakable!

Because of the hard safari tour the girls were so tiered that they went to bed after the (lost) Yazzi game, but the hard boys went for a bear in the next pub!On the left side is J(G)in from Korea and Dermott from London.

Due to the hotness we slept in caves, sometimes in tents and in spite of dangerous Scorpions we slept under the free star sky too!

We always get up between 4 and 5 o’clock in morning and drove with the bus to all famous sights between Adelaide and Alice Springs. During the ride we sung different songs- I had to sing "Silent night, Holy night" in German, because Carol (the ‘Dancing Queen” in the picture) said, that they have sung this song in school when she learned German and it sounded like a army song, because the language is so hard and choppy! I tried to sing it very softly, but I raised only a laugh.

Here we arrived at the Uluru...

That’s the steep way to the top...

And that’s on the top with Carol's Bear. I promised her that I will make a picture with her bear and will present this on my Homepage!

The path back to the valley with an excellent view!

And Carol was waiting with champagne to celebrate this romantic moment.

After a short cuddle scene the other guys interrupt this moment, and so we shared the champagne and the beautiful moment with all other travelers!

Here we hiked through the Kings Canyon...

…and during this track I had to explain the meaning of my surname, because ‘Nachbargauer’ seems to sound very funny for English, Australian or Israel Guys! The first part was very easy Nachbar= Neighbour; for the second part it demanded more creativity: A GAU is a very bad accident in a nuclear power plant (It’s called SUPER-GAU too)

After my explanation I felt a nasty requirement to look for a lonely cave… Because I had to create a SUPER-GAU which can only be done by an original Nachbargauer!

And here the short summary of the funny week.
